# How to create and use Tasks for your AI Agents

This guide explains how to create and run tasks so your AI agents can automate repeatable work and deliver consistent outputs where you need them.

Tasks let you give your AI agents clear instructions for example, creating reports, summarising activity, or pulling key insights and optionally schedule them to run automatically. This helps you standardise routine work, reduce manual effort, and keep outputs aligned with your day-to-day operational goals—whether you want results in the platform, or delivered into a connected chat tool like Slack or Microsoft Teams.

- Open the Tasks area from the main navigation.
- Select New task.
- Type your request in plain language for example, “Generate a monthly financial report” or “How much social media engagement did we get yesterday?” , then press Enter to submit it.
- Review the generated task details such as the proposed prompt and objective , and edit anything that needs tightening or clarification.
- Choose where you want the output delivered:
  - In-platform chat
  - Slack
  - Microsoft Teams
- If you choose Slack, select a channel from the list of channels where the app/integration is already added.
- If you choose Microsoft Teams, select the relevant Teams channel.
- Optional Set a schedule so the task runs automatically daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly at a specific time.
- Choose visibility:
  - Personal: only you the creator can view, edit, and run the task.
  - Shared: team-mates can view, edit, and run the task, regardless of who created it.
- Select Save at the bottom to store the task.
- Run the task:
  - If it’s scheduled, it will run automatically at the times you set.
  - If it’s not scheduled, return to your task list and run it manually for example, select the task and press Enter .
- Review the response once it completes—your AI agents will process the request and provide the output or insights you asked for.
- Keep important tasks easy to find by using Pin, which moves them to the top of your task list.
- If you are trying to create or change a task from Teams or Slack, note that this action may not be available there—log in to your account in the platform to complete it.

Troubleshooting

| | Suggested Solution | Issue | Possible Cause |
| | Open the task again if available and select Save. If you navigated away before saving, recreate the task and save it before exiting. | Task not appearing in the list | The task was not saved |
| | Check the task configuration prompt/objective, output destination, schedule , then save and try running it again. | Task not executing | Task wasn’t saved, has missing details, or isn’t configured correctly |
| | Confirm the integration is enabled and that the app is added to the target channel, then reselect the destination and retry. | Can’t post to Slack or Teams | Integration isn’t connected, or the app isn’t added to the channel |
| | Log in to the platform in your browser, then create or edit the task from the Tasks area. | “This action can’t be completed from Teams or Slack” message | Creating/editing tasks isn’t supported inside the chat tool |
Creating tasks is one of the simplest ways to get reliable, repeatable outcomes from your AI agents. Once you’ve set up a few well-written tasks—and scheduled the ones you run regularly—you’ll save time, reduce manual steps, and keep your team’s workflows more consistent.
