# How to use Tasks within your account

Understanding what a task is and how it works within the platform is crucial for getting the most value from your workspace. This article introduces the concept of tasks and explains how to use them to improve productivity and generate clearer insights.

## What is a task?

A task is an actionable request or instruction you give to an AI-powered assistant or agent within the platform. Tasks help the system understand what you need and return useful outputs based on your prompt. Depending on your setup, tasks can cover a wide range of automated actions, such as generating content, analysing data, creating summaries, or producing scheduled reports.

## Key features of a task

- Customisable instructions: Tailor tasks to your exact requirements so outputs are more precise and relevant.
- No technical expertise needed: Create and run tasks using plain language—no coding required.
- Efficient workflows: Automate repetitive or time-consuming work to save time and reduce manual effort.
## How to use tasks

### Create and formulate a task

1. Open the Tasks section from the main navigation.
1. Select New task.
1. Type your request clearly for example, “Generate a monthly financial report” or “Summarise yesterday’s social media engagement” and submit it.
1. The platform will create a task with a proposed prompt and objective. Review and edit these if needed.
### Select an output

1. Choose where you want results delivered, such as:
  - In-platform chat
  - A messaging integration for example, posting into a channel
1. If using a messaging integration, select the channel/workspace destination from the available list you may need the integration installed and added to that channel first .
### Schedule optional

- Set the task to run daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, at a specific time, to automate recurring work.
### Set visibility: personal or shared

- Personal task: Only the creator can view, edit, and run it.
- Shared task: Team members can view, edit, and run it, regardless of who created it.
### Save the task

- Select Save at the bottom of the page.
### Execute the task

- If the task is not scheduled, return to your task list and run it manually for example, by selecting it and pressing enter/Run, depending on your interface .
### Review the response

- Once executed, the AI assistant/agent will process your request and return the output for example, a response, summary, report, or recommended next steps .
### Organise tasks

- Pin important tasks to keep them at the top of your task list for quicker access.
## Benefits of using tasks

- Enhanced productivity: Automates routine or complex work so you can focus on higher-value tasks.
- Actionable insights: Helps you get faster answers, summaries, or analysis aligned to your needs.
If you’re new to tasks, start by exploring the Tasks section and testing a few simple requests. As you learn what works best, you can refine prompts, set schedules, and share tasks with your team for consistent results.
